We just spent a little bit of time with the new Droid RAZR family: the Droid RAZR M, RAZR HD and RAZR HD MAXX.

The RAZR M features a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED Advanced display, while the HD and HD MAXX feature 4.7-inch 720p Super AMOLED HD displays. PenTile is present on all three.

All three phones feature the same dual-core (28nm Krait + Adreno 225) Qualcomm MSM8960 SoC running at 1.5GHz, and 1GB of memory. Software isn't final on either of the RAZR HD devices so we'll hold off on doing any real performance analysis there. We should have a final RAZR M later today so we'll update with a quick look at performance there.

NAND storage ranges from 8GB on the M, to 16GB on the HD and 32GB on the HD MAXX. Additional storage expansion via microSD is offered on all three models.

Battery capacity varies between the three as well. The M comes with a 2000mAh battery, the HD bumps that up to 2530mAh, and the HD MAXX features a whopping 3300mAh battery just like its predecessor.

All three support the same bands and operating modes:

CDMA 800 1900, LTE B13, WCDMA 850 900 1900 2100, GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 EVDO Rev. A, HSDPA 21.1 Mbps (Cat 14), HSUPA 5.76 Mbps

The RAZR M and RAZR HD are both available in black and white, while the RAZR HD MAXX is only available in black.

nice devices on paper, and ofc the Maxx is great (if screen and all else are ok),3300mAh in just 9.3mm and 157g is quite nice.
obviously i want a Maxx Q,with quad core Krait so lets hope for that :)

Moto posted full set of specs for the new phones,if anyone cares, here http://mediacenter.motorola.com/content/default.as...

Never good enough, eh? Are we going to wait for hexacore SoCs after the quad A15s become ubiquitous?

I wonder how much for an unlocked version. Don't want to go to contract on Verizon (or any other contract).

I would guess around $550-$650.... The new Nexus phone should be out soon I guess. Or you could pick up a Galaxy Nexus for $350 + tax. It has the same screen, just slower processor but with Jelly Bean!

I have been considering a Nexus. Like one commenter on another article said about this - if googorola would just produce a Motorola Nexus (very similar to these) they could have my money.

In the presentation on youtube they did say they would have a "developer" version with unlocked bootloader.

That Droid RAZR M looks quite nice... Like the slab shape (over the Atrix HD) - but I'm on at&t contract and Verizon sucks big time in my area...

Check out the gallery on the Droid RAZR M, Its the same size as the iPhone4 - but a bit longer (so it should be a tad smaller than the iPhone5). The LCD display is right on the bloody edge of the bezel... smallest ever on a modern phone. Compared to the Atrix HD which has a 4.5" screen, yet the body is a sliver smaller than the SGS3. Which - does look good, but is a waste of space. The M isn't 1280x720... but is up there with the iPhone4s, so it should be good enough.

I gather there could be an Atrix M then... and perhaps an Atrix HD MAXX? :)

I prefer not to have the Chinese versions of these phones, but I am having a heck of a time finding out if the developer version (or any unlocked version) can be used in China (Preferably on China Unicom, but China Mobile would be ok, too). I was told point blank by Verizon reps both in person while I was visiting the USA last month and on the phone that the Galaxy S III can't, won't, and will never work in China except as international roaming, only to finally find out that it is only software preventing an unlocked S3 from working in China and Samsung was supposed to make a patch available 'sometime soon'.

I am happy enough with Dual-Core, but I want that 3300mAh battery if I can get it to work!
